Report: Apple’s 2020 iPhone Launch Could Be Delayed

Posted April 22, 2020 | 5G iPhone | Apple | iOS | iPhone | Mobile | Windows

We are still months away from the expected launch of Apple’s next-gen iPhones. And although it’s still pretty early for iPhone leaks, a recent report shed some lights on Apple’s design approach for the 2020 iPhones.

At the time, the report claimed that Apple’s launch of the 2020 iPhones could be delayed due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. And now, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could be delaying the launch of its 2020 iPhones.

The delay could be caused by the delays in the production of Apple’s new 5G iPhones. According to Kuo (via MacRumors), Apple had recently made changes to the antenna design of its 5G iPhones, causing the testing and qualification process for the new phones to be delayed.

As a result, Apple’s new 6.1-inch and 5.4-inch iPhones are expected to go into mass production this September, with the larger 6.7-inch iPhone expected to hit mass production in October. The delays could result in Apple pushing the launch of the 2020 iPhone lineup.

Apple also recently launched the new iPhone SE, which Kuo says has sold better than expected so far. The company is expected to introduce a larger iPhone SE in the first half of 2021, but Kuo claims the launch of the larger iPhone SE is likely to be delayed until the second half of 2021.

Of course, a lot of the launch timelines are probably yet to be finalised, and with the uncertainties surrounding the current world events, things could change quite a lot.
