Amazon Music Has a New Free Tier on Mobile
Amazon Music customers without a Prime membership or an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription can now access a free, ad-supported selection of content on mobile.
“Previously only available to customers on Echo devices, today’s news expands access to customers using the Amazon Music app on iOS, Android, and FireTV,” Amazon announced. “Customers can also listen to this music on the web.”
The new free tier is available to Amazon Music customers in the U.S., UK, and Germany, the firm added. Amazon says that the offering provides access to top playlists and “thousands” of stations based on any song, artist, era, and genre, and it includes “the best in Holiday tunes” too. Select playlists and stations include All Hits, Fuego Latino, Country Heat, Holiday Favorites, and Rap Rotation.
By comparison, customers with an Amazon Prime membership have access to a bigger catalog of over 2 million songs, plus thousands of playlists and stations, without any ads. Those who subscribe to Amazon Music Unlimited, which is normally $15 per month, have access to Amazon’s entire catalog of over 50 million songs. That latter offering is now available for 4 months for just 99 cents per month, too.
