Samsung made the same mistake twice when introducing the Galaxy Note 10 series

Posted August 10, 2019 | Mobile | News

And to make matters worse, SamMobile points out that this same mistake was repeated on Sammy’s website. The original copy on the site made mention of “High-polish stainless steel,” which was changed to “High-polish metal.” And in a new version of the introduction video that was posted on the Samsung YouTube channel today, the line about the stainless steel and glass was removed completely even though the video wasn’t changed. The reality might be better for owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ since aluminum happens to scratch less easily than stainless steel does.

Samsung did plenty of editing this work on other matters related to the Galaxy Note 10 line

This isn’t the only editing that Samsung has done this week. As we told you yesterday, after removing the 3.5mm headphone jack from the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+, Samsung deleted from its social media accounts any marketing material that could be considered a shot at the Apple iPhone. Of course, Samsung has a rich and colorful history of going after the iPhone and its fans. For example, who could forget the commercial that Samsung dropped in 2011 for the Galaxy S II that used actors to portray iPhone fans waiting in line for the iPhone 4s. That ad had a few notable lines. One person waiting to buy the phone says, “If it looks the same, how will people know I upgraded?” And when a slacker type tells his pal that “I could never get a Samsung. I’m too creative,” his pal slaps him down by replying, “Dude, you’re a barista.”

Samsung also deleted the complete Ingenious series of ads that used an actor to mock an Apple Genius trying to sell customers in the Apple Store on the iPhone X. In one such ad, a man walks into the store asking if he can still use his headphones on that particular iPhone model and was introduced to the concept of using a dongle. Apple had already dropped the 3.5mm earphone jack on its handsets, and this commercial was one way for Samsung to make fun of Apple for doing so. After all, Samsung had kept the jack on the Samsung Galaxy S9 series and didn’t remove it until now with the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+.
We have to wonder how Samsung could make a mistake about the materials used for the frame of the Galaxy Note 10 line on a video viewed nearly 3 million times. And then to repeat the blunder on its own website means that some employees in the company’s marketing department are not going to sleep well over the next few days. Now it could be possible that at one time in its development, the Note 10 handsets were going to use stainless steel; after all, that is the material used by Apple for the frames of the iPhone X, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max (the iPhone XR uses aluminum). But someone did slip up and while it probably will end up being a case of no harm, no foul, no company likes to look foolish after unveiling a phone line that represents its technological peak for the year.
