Samsung Announces Galaxy Book Flex Ahead of CES

Posted January 2, 2020 | Hardware | Mobile | Samsung Galaxy Book | Windows | Windows 10

In a bid to steal some thunder from rival PC makers, Samsung has announced a new Galaxy Book Flex ahead of the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which begins next week in Las Vegas. It even comes with a stupid new name, the Galaxy Book Flex α, where “α” stands for “alpha.”

“We all have different routines, and we need technology that works the way we work, and with our new Galaxy computing line, we’re giving consumers the ability to choose a PC that meets their unique needs,” Samsung SVP and general manager Alanna Cotton said in a prepared statement. “Galaxy Book Flex α is a stellar new variant of the Galaxy computing line, offering many of the best design, hardware, and display features at an accessible price-point.”

The Galaxy Book Flex α is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop that is powered by 10th-generation Intel Core processors, 8 or 12 (yes, 12) GB of RAM, and 256 or 512 GB of SSD storage. It weighs about 2.6 pounds, delivers a reported 17.5 hours of battery life, and provides a bright, 600-nit 13.3-inch QLED Full HD display. It is vaguely reminiscent of the Surface Book lineup from a form factor perspective, minus the silly hinge and removable display.

Galaxy Book Flex α will ship in Royal Silver in the United States in the first half of 2020, Samsung says, and it will start at about $830. You can learn more here.
