Compact phones sporting smaller than 5-inch (or even 5.5-inch) screens are essentially dead and buried, and although a Touch ID return still seems in the cards, it might take Apple another couple of years to refine the deeply flawed in-display fingerprint recognition experience. But if you want both those features right now, you can buy the classic iPhone 7 for as little as $189.99 today only.
We’re obviously talking about refurbished units here, sold at a significantly lower price than
just a couple of months ago in a 128GB storage configuration. You can pick up the 100 percent functional 4.7-incher in your choice of black, gold, jet black, red, or rose gold colors, with a 90-day Woot warranty included for your peace of mind.
Naturally, the devices on sale here won’t exactly look as good as new, exhibiting a “moderate level of wear & tear including (but not limited to) scratches, dents, and dings.” What’s perhaps even worse is that these are AT&T-locked units you can’t activate on any other network, but if that doesn’t feel too inconvenient, the $189.99 price is to die for.
Granted, the same carrier will let you
get the handset free of charge with monthly installments in a 32 gig variant, while unlocked units still start at a whopping $449 over at the official Apple Store.
In addition to a traditional fingerprint scanner and relatively sharp 4.7-inch display with 1334 x 750
pixel resolution, the 2016-released
iPhone 7 also has a respectable Apple A10 Fusion processor going for it, as well as excellent battery life, a water and dust-resistant design made from aluminum and glass, and perhaps most importantly, great software support. Currently powered by iOS 12, the handset is guaranteed to score a timely
iOS 13 update, and if history is any indication, the compact bad boy should be eligible for one more major OS promotion, bringing the grand total up to four.
