Android One phone sales grew over 250% last year, Android Go popular too

Google is committed to offering reliable Android experiences across all smartphone categories. In order to so, it created the Android One Program in 2014 and launched Android Go in 2018. Now, the internet giant has shared some insight into how these two initiatives are performing.
Although the company didn’t reveal how many Android One devices have shipped since the program first began, Google did state that Android One activations grew a whopping 250% during 2018. This is thanks to Google’s long list of partners which includes the likes of Xiaomi, LG, and Motorola. The biggest contributor of all, however, appears to have been Nokia.
In order to combat the poor performance of entry-level smartphones, Google released Android Go for smartphones with 1GB of RAM or less a couple of years ago. As of today, over 50% of entry-level Android devices are powered by Android Go.
Looking to the future, Google is betting on newer devices such as the Nokia 1 Plus and BLU Vivo Go – which run Android Pie (Go Edition) – to maintain this trend.
