Microsoft has started rolling out a new system update on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles today. The main new feature is noise suppression for Xbox Party Chat, which will be enabled by default for all your parties on Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Noise suppression will remove background noises including gamepad clicks, breathing, and music to help your teammates hear you better. When you’re in a party, you can still disable noise suppression by opening the Xbox Guide, navigating to the Parties & chats tab, and selecting Options.

If you’re using external storage on your Xbox, you’ll also see a new pop-up screen after installing this update asking you if you’re using your external storage with one or multiple consoles. The two options will determine how installations and updates are configured on your Xbox.

Lastly, Microsoft mentioned in the release notes a new way to launch games right from your friend’s shared captures on mobile or PC with Xbox Cloud Gaming. When you’re browsing game clips and screenshots on the Xbox app for PC and mobile, you’ll now see a Play button to start playing directly from a shared clip.

Microsoft has more new features in the pipeline for the Xbox OS including a Discord voice chat integration, as well as a unified game library that combines the games you own with titles coming from game subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass and EA Play. Both new features are currently being tested with Xbox Insiders.
