Even though we’re still more than 24 hours away from the Prime Day madness and Amazon’s list of early deals available right now is far from extensive or impressive in any way, fans of ultra-affordable Android-based tablets should waste no time and pull the trigger as soon as possible on a heavily discounted Fire HD 8 at Woot.

Of course, there is a “catch”, as you’ll have to make do with pre-owned Fire HD 8 units to score the aforementioned discount of 70 full bucks. Technically listed as “refurbished”, the substantially marked-down devices will be shipped (for free for Amazon Prime members) in boxes featuring the “used-good” inscription. That essentially means their cosmetic condition is good but not great, exhibiting “minor blemishes” after being returned by their original owners, professionally inspected, and restored to fully working order by authorized Amazon technicians.

Repackaged in a brown box and backed by a 90 day warranty, these are not quite as good as new, but pretty darn close. At 40 bucks, they have a whole lot going for them, from a relatively sharp 1280 x 800 pix res display to a quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, expandable storage, stellar battery life (up to a whopping 10 hours of mixed use), and dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos audio enhancements.

Unfortunately, only the black model is still available at the time of this writing, and although the lightning deal is technically set to run until midnight, something tells us Woot’s inventory will be all depleted earlier than that.
