Your Phone for Windows 10 Now Lets You Control Music on Your Android Phone

Posted April 29, 2020 | Android | Mobile | Windows | Windows 10 | Your Phone

Microsoft is today releasing a new build of Windows 10 to Insiders in the Fast Ring. The new build, 19619, only includes bug fixes and does not have any new features. Along with the new build, however, Microsoft is announcing a new update for the Your Phone app in Windows 10.

The new update enables the ability to control media playback on your Android phone from your Windows 10 PC. It’s a nice little addition to the Your Phone app, which already includes a number of different features for Android users.

With the new feature, you can see what is playing on your phone from your PC. From there, you can control the playback right from your PC without having to pick up your phone. The idea is pretty neat, but I don’t see when you would actually need to use the feature, to be honest. Apps like Spotify already let you control music on your phone via the Spotify desktop app, for example.

Either way, it doesn’t hurt to have options and I guess that is what Microsoft is aiming for here. The new feature is available to users running Windows 10 October 2018 Update or newer, and with an Android phone running Android 7 or newer. The update is gradually rolling out and will be available with the Your Phone ap version 1.20041.85.
