Now that Microsoft has shipped the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, it’s starting to test the next major Windows 10 update with a wider group of Windows Insiders. The upcoming update, codenamed Redstone 5, has been available to a small group of Insiders part of Skip Ahead before, but it’s now rolling out to all Insiders in the Fast Ring. For those who don’t want to test Redstone 5, you will need to opt out of the Insider program or move to the Release Preview ring as soon as possible.

As for the latest Redstone 5 build, 17661, there are a couple of major new features. First, Microsoft is officially launching the new Screen Sketch experience we exclusively revealed earlier last month. The new screenshotting experience in Windows 10 introduces a modern experience for screenshotting in Windows 10 that lets users easily take screenshots of their screen and copy them into their clipboard — all accessible with the Win+Shift+S shortcut. Microsoft is also making it possible to access the new snipping experience with a Surface Pen’s tail button, and the PrntScr button — all configurable from the Settings app. Windows 10 needed a solid built-in screenshotting experience like Screen Sketch for a long while, and Microsoft’s latest stab at fixing the problem will hopefully work as well as macOS’ built-in screenshotting tools.

Other changes in the latest build include the addition of Fluent Design’s Acrylic element to Windows Timeline, and the rebranding of Windows Defender Security Center — now called Windows Security. The build includes some other minor features, and you can find the full changelog here.
