The Windows Insider Program is back to form, hiding important news by updating older blog posts rather than creating a new post. But this one is too important to hide, so please pay attention if you’re one of the few people still participating in the Insider Program.

Here’s what they did.

Last night, Microsoft updated a blog post that was originally posted 11 days earlier. This marks the second time they’ve released news to this post by editing the post, and the company seems to be clueless about the fact that these updates are basically sent into a black hole: Without issuing a new post, no one will ever be alerted to the news. (RSS readers don’t republish updated posts, and fewer than 92,000 of the less than one million active Windows Insiders follow the Windows Insider Program on Twitter, which his the other way one might have found out about this critical change. Think about it.)

And you do want to be alerted to this news, especially if you don’t intend to switch seamlessly from testing Windows 10 version 1909 (19H2) to testing Windows 10 version 20H1: Insiders who have PCs enrolled in the Slow ring will be updated to 20H1 “very shortly.” So there’s your magic window, of sorts, and it’s about to close.

Meanwhile, Insiders who have PCs enrolled in the Release Preview ring will receive yet another minor update to 19H2, which advances the build number from 18362.10024 to 18363.418. (Yes, really.) So, the Release Preview ring is now the only way to stay on 19H2.

“Now’s the time to double-check your Windows Insider Program settings!” the Insider Program gleefully notes.

It sure is. Maybe you should tell someone about it.
