This Is Microsoft’s xCloud Game Streaming Service on the PC

Posted March 20, 2020 | Project Xcloud | Windows | Xbox | Xbox Game Streaming | Xbox One | xCloud

Microsoft has been testing its xCloud game streaming service for a while now. The service first launched for Android users, and it later came to the iPhone. But a ton of people has been waiting for Microsoft to bring xCloud to PCs.

And as promised, looks like Microsoft is getting closer to the release of xCloud on PCs. The screenshot above is our first-ever look at xCloud running on Windows 10, courtesy of  The Verge.

Microsoft has reportedly started testing the new Xbox Game Streaming app for Windows 10 with all employees this week, which is the app that allows users to access xCloud. Users will also apparently be able to stream games from their own Xbox One console via the new app.

In terms of the experience, the Xbox Game Streaming app for Windows 10 is very much like the mobile app. The interface itself looks just like a blown-up version of the mobile app interface, which is both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because users will get a consistent experience, but I feel like — at least from what I can see in the leaked screenshots — that the PC app’s interface doesn’t look too good on the big screen. Microsoft will probably adapt the interface to work better with the screen real estate when the app is readied for the public release, however.
