Opera Now Integrates with Twitter

Posted June 24, 2020 | Opera | Web browsers | Windows

The new version of the Opera desktop web browser now offers built-in Twitter support via its sidebar interface.

“The innovative Opera browser specializes in providing unique features not typically found in other major browsers,” the firm notes in the announcement for Opera 69. “Opera comes with a built-in ad blocker and tracker blocker, free-browser-VPN, Crypto Wallet, and integrated social media messengers. The new Twitter feature follows shortly after Opera launched built-in Instagram support and hit record desktop user base numbers with 73 million unique monthly users in March 2020.”

The Twitter sidebar integration provides users with access to their Twitter feeds, search, Direct Messages (DMs), and more.

To enable it, click More (“…”) at the bottom of the sidebar, select “Sidebar setup,” and then select Twitter in the “Messengers” section. From there, you sign-in to Twitter normally and you’re all set.

“With today’s Twitter integration, Opera is proving that it’s the best browser for social media,” the announcement continues. “Opera has already introduced built-in support for Instagram, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp[,] and VKontakte as part of previous releases. After choosing the social media platforms one uses, they remain always at hand directly in the sidebar.”
