Tips and picks

Tip of the week: Before a White Christmas, a Black Friday

Microsoft, like other retailers, is hosting a lot of great sales this coming long weekend and beyond.

Note, too, that other retailers will often have the physical goods for the same prices.

App pick of the week: Outlook.com and Outlook on the Web

You can now use these web apps like real apps. Here’s how.

Enterprise pick of the week: ODI: What’s next?

The MicrosoftSAP/Adobe Open Data Initiative has gone quiet as of late. But things are still percolating.

Enterprise pick No. 2 of the week: Chredge for commercial users

This was glossed over a bit at Ignite, but when Microsoft rolls out Chredge v.1 on January 15, the team is looking at this as a release for businesses.  Anyone will be able to get and use it starting then, but officials have hinted there will be more consumer- and dev-focused Chredge features coming in the spring.

Beer pick of the week: Proclamation Ale Co. Tendril

When in New England, go for the New England IPAs. Especially when in Rhode Island, go local. Proclamation is based in Warwick and is making some very nice beers of all kinds. The Tendril IPA, at 7%, is an excellent example of the style and a nice Turkey Day option.
