Minecraft with RTX Exits Beta, Tops Streaming Charts
Earlier this year, NVIDIA and Mojang showed off Minecraft with ray-tracing enabled and not long after, the company began offering a beta of the game. Announced today, Minecraft with RTX is now generally available.
Minecraft players who are running the Bedrock version of the game and also own an RTX-enabled graphics card are now able to turn on ray-tracing and DLSS without the patch that was required for beta testers. And to test out the new functionality, there are 10 RTX enabled maps that you can download for free from the Minecraft marketplace.
It is important to keep in mind that turning on RTX features can significantly impact the FPS of your games. Unless you have a higher-end PC, you may want to keep this feature off or only turn it on when exploring on your own agenda.
While many other games have received the spotlight this year like Flight Sim 2020 or Sea of Thieves for Microsoft, Minecraft continues to be one of their best investments to date.
According to the head of YouTube gaming, for 2020, Minecraft was the top watched game-content in 2020. YouTube says that 201 billion views of Minecraft content, which is double the figure of 2019, was consumed this year. No matter how you slice it, Minecraft continues to be a massive gaming asset for Microsoft.
The success of Minecraft and the explosive growth of gaming-content is one of the primary reasons that Microsoft continues to invest heavily in gaming companies. While not every acqusition will perform as well as Minecraft, if the company can recreate that magic only a couple of times, they will cement their place as the ‘Netflix of gaming’ with Game Pass.
