Microsoft Testing New Dark Mode for Bing.com

Posted April 5, 2020 | Bing + MSN | Bing.com | Dark modes | dark theme | Windows

Dark modes have been a big hit in the recent year, with the world’s largest apps embracing new dark interfaces. And with web browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge now having built-in dark modes, it’s only a matter of time till more websites start embracing the dark side.

Bing.com might be the next big website to introduce a built-in dark mode. Microsoft seems to have started testing a new dark mode for Bing that gives the search engine a much better look for those who prefer darker interfaces.

The new dark mode is obviously not public yet, and Microsoft has so far not made things official. The company is only testing the new dark mode in the United States with a small number of users, and you may be able to get an early peek at it by going into the incognito mode of your browser. I was tipped off about the new dark mode by our reader Gunjan Nagpal on Twitter.

Bing.com’s new dark mode is one of the recent new features that’s being tested by the company. As we reported just a few days ago, Microsoft is also testing a new logo for Bing.

The new dark mode, for those wondering, appears across the search engine — including the search results. It’s identical to the dark mode that already exists on the official Bing app. It’s not clear exactly when Microsoft will officially roll out the feature to everyone, but considering it’s already being tested with a small number of users, Microsoft may be preparing for a wider release soon.
