During its earnings call today, Microsoft reported a major new milestone for Microsoft Teams: it now has 75 million daily active users. Microsoft Teams had 44 million daily active users back in March, and that figure saw an impressive 70% growth in the last few weeks.

Microsoft said the number of daily active users for Teams increased by 110% in the last four months. Microsoft’s earnings call for FYQ3 2020 was also the first to be hosted on Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also noted that Teams now has experienced more than 200 million meeting participants in a single day this month, generating more than 4.1 billion meeting minutes. For comparison, Zoom reported more than 300 million meeting participants last week. Google Meet passed the 100 million mark for daily meeting participants just yesterday. Skype, on the other hand, had 40 million daily active users at the end of March.

Nadella also revealed some other interesting details, noting that more than 183,00 educational institutes are using Teams and 20 organizations with more than 100,000 employees actively use Teams.

It’s important to note that Microsoft has nearly 258 million paid Office 365 Commercial seats, so not all of them are yet making use of Teams. It would be interesting to see know exactly how many of Teams’ 75 million daily active users are paid users, however.
