Microsoft Releases March 2022 Patch Tuesday Updates

Posted March 8, 2022 | Patch Tuesday | Uncategorized | Windows | Windows 10 | Windows 11

Microsoft has released today the March 2022 ‘Patch Tuesday’ Updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10. These updates include a fix for a bug that could lead to some user data not being erased after resetting a PC.

According to Microsoft, the bug could occur when users had folders containing reparsed data that had been synced locally with the OneDrive app for Windows. “When you select Remove everything, files that have been downloaded or synced locally from Microsoft OneDrive might not be deleted,” the company explained.

Even after installing this patch, Microsoft says that some devices “might take up to seven days after you install this update to fully address the issue and prevent files from persisting after a reset.” As a workaround, the company recommends users to manually run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to resolve the problem.

If you’re already running Windows 11 on your PC, you can look for the KB5011493 patch in Windows Update. For users still running Windows 10 version 20H2 or newer, the KB5011487 patch is what you should be looking for.
