Microsoft Launches New Web Portal for its Windows App Store

Posted March 3, 2022 | Microsoft Store | Windows | Windows 10 | Windows 11

Microsoft has quietly launched a new web portal for its app store for Windows 10 and Windows 11. The new website has been spotted earlier this week by FireCubeStudios, and it follows the Windows 11 design guidelines with redesigned icons and buttons with rounded corners.

This new web version of the Microsoft Store still lets Windows users install apps from the web with just a couple of clicks. New Win32 apps including Mozilla Firefox, Discord, or the Epic Games Store are all there, and Microsoft has also curated apps into approximately 30 different categories.

The store listings on this new web store are pretty clean, and it’s also possible to see the date an app received its last update, something that isn’t visible on the Microsoft Store app. However, there’s still no information about version numbers or release notes.

This new Microsoft Store on the web currently has a “Preview” tag, and it’s accessible on apps.microsoft.com. While the web portal is probably more convenient for browsing apps, you’ll still need to open the real Microsoft Store app to browse Movies & TV content.
