macOS Big Sur Is Coming Later This Week

Posted November 10, 2020 | Apple | Big Sur | Mac and macOS | macOS | Windows

Apple first announced macOS Big Sur back at WWDC earlier this year. Although the company already released major updates for all its other operating systems this year, it’s yet to release the new Big Sur update.

Today, along with the new Mac devices powered by its new M1 processor, Apple announced that the new Big Sur update will be coming later this week. To be exact, Big Sur is getting released on November 12.

And that makes sense, as Apple’s new M1-powered Mac devices will be coming out next Friday. The new macOS Big Sur update is built for Apple Silicon, and it makes full use of the M1 processor, mainly the new unified memory architecture.

And if you have an older MacBook device, you will still get the massive new redesign that Apple is introducing. Along with the new icons, Apple is changing up the design of macOS quite a lot with Big Sur.

“Big Sur introduces a beautiful redesign that is entirely new yet instantly familiar, and powerful updates to apps including Safari, Messages, and Maps. Big Sur is engineered, down to its core, to take full advantage of all the capability and power of M1, delivering a massive boost in performance, astonishing battery life, and even stronger security protections,” said Apple.

I have been patiently waiting for the new Big Sur update for quite a while, and the new design will be fun to play with.
