iPhone and iPad apps coming to Mac App Store

Posted June 25, 2020 | Mac

Thanks to Apple’s commitment to proprietary processors in upcoming models, it will be possible to run apps originally created for the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on your Mac.

It’s now clear that all new iOS and iPadOS apps created in the future will be published on the Mac App Store automatically and by default. Developers who for some reason do not want to join the process will have to opt out by selecting an option in the publishing tool.

With the support for iOS apps, there will be plenty of software for the new Macs from day one, although some will argue that this will be a lesser experience than with programs that were designed specifically for computer use.

Curious to see how iPhone apps will work in macOS Big Sur? You can watch a video on Apple’s developer pages.
