Google Fit Gets New Features on Android, Wear OS

Posted December 10, 2018 | Android | Fit | Google | Google Fit | Wear OS | Windows

Google is rolling out somewhat of a major upgrade to Google Fit on Android and Wear OS. The company redesigned the entire service earlier this year, and it’s now introducing further enhancements.

Google Fit now comes with widgets that let you quickly track your fitness stats right from your Android home screen. You can check things like your Heart Points, Move Minutes, and other daily stats at a glance using these new widgets.

The app itself now displays your last workout right on the home screen, which is an interesting change and Google doesn’t say exactly why the app shows your previous workout on the homescreen. My guess is that it’s just a way to keep you up-to-date last workout so you have a better idea of your progress as you get into the next one. For those who manually log their workouts, Google now has a new activity intensity feature that will let you get more accurate Heart Points.

And for those on Wear OS, Google Fit can now guide you through breathing exercises to help you relax every now and then.

The updates are going to berolled out over this week on both Android and Wear OS.
