Dark Mode, More Coming to OneDrive

Posted March 4, 2021 | OneDrive | Windows

Microsoft has published its latest roadmap for OneDrive, and it has a number of new features on the way, including Dark mode support on the web.

Here’s what you can expect to see from OneDrive soon.

Dark mode for web. Dark mode is now rolling out on the web versions of OneDrive for both commercial and personal accounts. (And let me just add that I appreciate Microsoft finally differentiating between OneDrive consumer and OneDrive for Business here. This is quite rare.)

“At a glance” summaries in sharing emails. When you share Word documents with others via OneDrive, the e-mail invitation will now include new information about that document, including the estimated time to read and a list of key points. Microsoft adds that documents that have been marked as sensitive by Microsoft’s data loss prevention (DLP) service will not include this information.

Bookmarks for PDF viewing on iOS. OneDrive for iPhone will make it easier to interact with PDF files via a new option that lets you add bookmarks so you can pick up where you left off. Just tap the bookmark icon in the top-right of the page or long-press anywhere on the document. Yes, this feature is coming to Android (“soon”) as well.

Support for DWG file version in sync. The OneDrive Sync client now supports version history for AutoDesk’s DWG files.
