This morning, Corel announced the immediate availability of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2020 with impressive new AI and collaboration features.

“Our flagship CorelDRAW release introduces state-of-the-art tech to enhance your entire design experience,” Core senior director of products John Falsetto said. “With CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2020, teams and clients can now access a centralized collaboration hub to get everyone on the same page in real time; while designers can discover the power of machine learning to create striking results, faster than ever. Make no mistake, this isn’t AI for AI’s sake. We’ve leveraged artificial intelligence across the suite to make the biggest impact on your professional graphics workflow.”

Some of the key new AI-powered and GPU-optimized features include image upsampling with artifact removal, even with lossy JPEG images; a redesigned PowerTRACE feature for converting bitmaps to vector graphics; Art Style effects in CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT for stylizing images and other objects; and enhanced masks in Corel PHOTO-PAINT for quickly and accurately selecting an image and expanding the selection by finding edges.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2020 also provides new collaboration features that are similar to what we see in office productivity suites like Microsoft Office. Now, designers can share their files for collaboration and review and non-designers can mark them up in the CorelDRAW.app web app with design changes, reviews, and approvals. And a new Comments docker and inspector lets everyone provide and respond to feedback.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2020 additionally provides many new and improved features related to typography. It supports OpenType variable fonts that allow you manipulate the appearance of text and create unique looks from a single font, a new Inner Shadow tool to give design elements like text 3D depth, a new bitmap effect lens in CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT for blending vector and bitmap objects into an existing design, and new non-destructive effects in Corel PHOTO-PAINT.

Finally, Corel is also touting performance improvements across the board: Application startup time is much improved, as are common actions like opening, closing, saving, printing, and exporting files. The Brush tool, Healing Clone, and Eraser in Corel PHOTO-PAINT perform much better, as do even the most complex designs that contain several PowerClips, Corel says.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2020 is available for Windows Mac—you may recall that Corel shipped the first Mac version last year—in English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Japanese. Perpetual licenses are is $499 USD, while the annual subscription version is $249 USD. The CorelDRAW.app (web app) collaboration features require a CorelDRAW Graphics Suite subscription, a maintenance license, or an additional CorelDRAW.app Pro subscription for perpetual license customers.
