Apple accidentally 'announces' new MacBook Pro

Posted October 27, 2020 | Mac

There are many indications that Apple is planning to hold its next event in November, this time focusing on new Macs. And we’ve just got a surprising clue about what sort of Macs the company is currently working on.

In what we can only assume is either a typo or an accidental leak – and the evidence is against the typo – Apple has released a Boot Camp update that refers to a MacBook Pro model that hasn’t yet been released or officially announced.

The documentation for version 6.1.13 of Boot Camp, MacRumors reports, says the update “fixes a stability issue that could occur during heavy CPU load on 16in MacBook Pro (2019 and 2020) and 13in MacBook Pro (2020)”. The only problem is that Apple hasn’t released a 16in Pro in 2020 – yet.

Since the new MacBook Pro model obviously supports Boot Camp, it seems certain that it will be equipped with an Intel processor. It logically follows that the first Mac with Apple’s own ARM-based processors will be a smaller model of 12, 13 or 14in.
