AMD Unveils Its Ryzen 6000 Series Mobile Processors

AMD has unveiled its Ryzen 6000 Series mobile processors, which combines an improved Zen 3+ core architecture with RDNA 2 graphics. AMD says it’s powerful enough for mobile gaming.

“AMD is at the forefront of innovation in the PC industry, delivering unmatched experiences for creators, professionals, and gamers,” AMD senior vice president Saeid Moshkelani said. “The new AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors bring remarkable efficiency for impressive battery life, unbeatable built-in graphics and optimized performance to deliver the best AMD has to offer to every type of notebook user.”

The Ryzen 6000 Series processors are built on a 6-nm manufacturing process and AMD says that the integrated RDNA 2 graphics are strong enough to deliver “1080p AAA” gaming performance on the go. They are the fastest AMD Ryzen processors yet, the firm says, with up to 5 GHz clock speeds, up to 1.3 times faster processing speeds, and up to 2.1 times faster graphics than the 5000 Series.

Among the advantages of its Zen 3+ core architecture is an adaptive power management feature that more efficiently delivers both power and battery life efficiency by adjusting the processor speed more quickly on the fly. AMD claims that PCs based on the Ryzen 6000 Series processor will achieve up to 24 hours of movie playback on a single charge.

The new processors will come with up to eight high-performance cores, each one capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time to deliver 16 threads of processing power. The Ryzen 6000 Series processors will provide up to 11 percent more single-threaded performance and up to 28 percent faster multithreaded performance over the previous generation, AMD says.

AMD Ryzen 6000 Series also supports fast DDR5 memory, PCIe 4.0, USB4, AI noise cancellation capabilities, and Wi-Fi 6E compatibility. They are also the first x86 processors to fully support Windows 11’s security features with an integrated Microsoft Pluton security processor.

The first laptops powered by AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors will ship from PC makers like Asus, Dell, and HP beginning in February 2022.
